About my journey
With this site, I hope to provide all teachers with a dynamic, inclusive space to explore powerful and transformative educational ideas.
Do you need help to make a fast switch to e-learning? Then watch my 5 minute videos, which also promote the pedagogy of care.
Do you need a menu of options for lesson starters, main activities or closures? Then watch my 30 minute webinars.
Do you want powerful teaching and learning ideas? Then read my blog.
I believe in thriving, creativity and inclusivity. I hope you will be inspired by what you find on this site.
As a child, if someone asked me: ‘What will you be when you grow up?’ I would answer: ‘I want to be a teacher’. I have always been a people’s person interested in the learning process, in the development of others and how I can support that development.
I am very passionate about my job. I have a humanistic view of education. I believe in one human race and that we all share and should look after this planet. I would like each students to have a chance, the best chance of success.
I have been a teacher for over 20 years, and I have taught in all educational settings: Primary, Secondary, College (FE), Adult Education, Higher Education (university).
My primary specialism is Languages: English, Italian and French. After completing my PGCert (Greenwich University) in 2004, I also became involved in the delivery of some of its modules and I realised that teacher education was my ‘call’. From then on, my roles became more and more geared towards teacher education. After completing the Master of Teaching (MTeach) in 2007 at the IoE, now part of UCL, London (UK), I further qualified to become an ‘Assessor’ (2009) so as to take a role as MTeach module lecturer at the IoE, until 2016 when I joined Ravensbourne where I currently lead the PGCert in Creative Courses.
I am interested in all things education. I am an avid ‘consumer of research’ and in the process of becoming a ‘producer of research’. I am particularly interested in inclusivity: inclusive learning design, inclusive assessment as learning, and feedback for learning. I feel inclusivity is very much on the agenda, it is a crucial aspect of 21st century learning but its impact is often underestimated.
I work part time as I also really enjoy being an involved mother: I have 2 boys (4 and 7) and I like being there for them. One of our favourite activities is going to Kew Gardens and looking at the sunlight thought the leaves. My wonderful children and awesome husband are a great inspiration for me. Nobody has the perfect life, job or family. But I think that contentment, true love and spirituality are the key to happiness.
